Anonymous asked: Can you explain why karna is karni in this sentence and other times when this occurs? किसी से तो शादी करनी ही होगी तुम्हें
नमस्ते namaste and thank you for the question. Let me see if I can explain it!
The above sentence is of the form तुम्हें … होगा tumhen … hogaa - You will have to… (The तुम्हें tumhen, equivilent to तुमको tumko, is colliqually thrown in at the end).
In these types of sentences the ‘inside verb’, the शादी करना shaadee karnaa - To marry, and the final होगा hogaa must agree with the object of the sentence. The object in this case is किसी kisee - someone. Now because in this example the ‘someone’ is female everything must become feminine! So we have to use शादी करनी होगी shaadee karnee hogee. Which gives us…
किसी से तो शादी करनी ही होगी तुम्हें
kisee se to shaadee karnee hee hogee tumhen
- You will have to marry someone
I hope that helps! Please feel free to ask me any more questions if you have then. Don’t forget you can always email me, my address is george@learning-hindi.com.
